Why do I like this book?
The first thing I came into contact with was the movie (released in 2005). I like watching movies that depict the British from the 18th to the 19th century. The author, Jane Austen, is a woman, and she describes the society at that time from a female perspective, which makes me more likely to resonate.
Through the story described the old society's regulations, for example, the property of British men after their deaths can only be passed on to the male heirs, and nobles should only marry a noble. Compared with the current enlightened society, I was very surprised.
If the story happens in modern times, things are very understandable. But Jane Austen published this book in the early 19th century. I admire her courage to have this opinion and express her points of view at the time.
